This morning I was swinging around the kitchen whistling the theme to Fireball XL5 and then it came to me. "Be careful out there, Steve".

Steve'd appreciate this: I made an entry in March roughly commemorating his 50th birthday, and it was accidentally deleted as part of a spam purge (oooops--luckily, I was reminded of the fact)

How's the tree? I remember being concerned about a few leafless branch tips last year; but last I checked during the Portuguese festivities in Trinity-Bellwoods, it looked pretty lush...

Steve's name kept coming up in conversation over the past week, particularily how he dragged me and Tony Wing out to Kareoke at the Gladstone years before it became "culturally ironic". I remember it took a little cajoling on his part "I've been going for a few weeks now and it's really (insert anochronistic Steve adjective: groovy, spaced out, etc.) When I showed up Steve was in full cowboy regalia and I realized he'd probably been showing up like this for a couple weeks all by himself -"testing the waters".

Steve, Tony and I attempted a Beachboys or a Beegees three part harmony with dubious result. Tony won a trucker hat.

Checked this site today and sure enough, three years and a day. Now the Gladstone is reno-ed and whitebelts have scared away the kareoke regulars. I wonder if they've squeezed out the old guy that ran the kareoke night and replaced him with a hairdo. Doesn't matter really. Steve made sure I experienced it in it's original context. He was/is/will be an excellent Timelord.

Steve's soundtrack Soul Trip 999 inspired this video piece I did. He wanted to use this computer based solo music for movie soundtracks. Hope y'all like it.
